Throughout my childhood, my parents often reminded me that breakfast holds the title of the most crucial meal of the day. It energizes you and sets the stage for the hours ahead. In a similar vein, toners (available in both liquid and pad formats) play a vital role in your skincare regimen. They help prepare your skin for improved absorption of subsequent skincare products.
In my earlier entry on Beauty Buzz, I discussed the reasons behind the rising popularity of Korean toner pads. These pads offer a hassle-free and convenient application method, and they can double as a toner mask pack, providing an extra boost of hydration!
This summer, I’m testing out too cool for school’s Egg Cica Ampoule Pad, ROVECTIN’s Pore Care No-Sebum Pad, and mixsoon’s Bean Toner Pad to tackle my three primary skin concerns: acne breakouts, surplus sebum, and uneven skin texture.
Continue reading for insights on how my skin reacted after using these three toner pads.
Main ingredients: Egg yolk extract, centella asiatica extract, Greenery Complex (comprised of houttuynia cordata, mugwort, and camellia sinensis leaf extracts), hyaluronic acid, allantoin, panthenol, butylene glycol, eucalyptus globulus leaf oil
Skin type: Ideal for normal and dry skin

My trial duration and usage: Every other day for a week
What it is: Infused with 1,500ppm of egg yolk extract and Greenery Complex, these soothing toner pads promptly alleviate redness and inflammation. Other potent ingredients like allantoin and panthenol fortify the skin barrier, refine skin texture, and combat dryness. Crafted from triple-layered cotton material, the pads conform closely to the natural contours of the face. They can also serve as a toner mask pack. Each tub contains 70 pads along with a tweezer.
My take: If you’re on the hunt for a summer-friendly toner pad, this is it! These daily toner pads are drenched in a refreshing formula that enhanced my skin’s hydration levels.
During my week-long trial, I partook in intense workouts and beach outings. Heat exposure often triggers eczema flare-ups for me, resulting in intense itching. Fortunately, the toner pads from too cool for school effectively calmed my skin after workouts or sun exposure. I also noticed a reduction in hormonal acne, shrinking significantly within just days thanks to the calming ingredients in the pads.
Those with sensitive skin should definitely conduct a patch test beforehand, as these toner pads contain eucalyptus globulus leaf oil. However, I personally did not experience any adverse reactions. I loved how the essential oil imparted an uplifting herbal scent, making the toning process all the more delightful!
Main ingredients: Tea tree leaf extract, wintergreen leaf extract, panthenol, apple fruit extract, charcoal extract, patented green fruit complex, butylene glycol, citric acid
Skin type: Suitable for all skin types, particularly oily skin

My trial duration and usage: Twice a week for one week
What it is: Incorporating ROVECTIN’s patented Green Fruit Complex (consisting of naturally derived AHA/BHA/PHA from four different green fruit extracts), these exfoliating toner pads remove dead skin cells for a refined complexion. The formula’s wintergreen and charcoal extracts draw out dirt, excess oil, and skin impurities from pores, yielding a clean finish. With a unique double-sided design, the smooth and embossed pads come pre-soaked in a fresh essence. Each tub holds 60 pads and includes a tweezer.
My take: Initially, I was concerned because the tub seemed devoid of extra liquid essence at the bottom, unlike the other two pads I tried. I feared the Pore Care No-Sebum Pad would skimp on hydration. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that each ROVECTIN toner pad was adequately saturated with essence for a thorough facial wipe.
After using them, my skin felt cleaner and smoother, with many areas exhibiting a soft, powdery feel. While my T-zone remained slightly shiny, it was nowhere near as greasy as it had been prior to using these pads!
Main ingredients: Seven types of bean extracts (including kidney bean, carob bean, soybean, lentil, peanut, pea, and sword bean), hyaluronic acid, allantoin, Vitamin E
Skin type: Appropriate for all skin types, particularly dry and oily skin

What it is: Seeking that elusive Korean glass skin? These hydrating toner pads are loaded with protein-rich bean ingredients, addressing skin concerns like inflammation, dryness, and uneven texture. Infused with seven types of beans, the toner pad essence provides anti-aging properties, while hyaluronic acid and allantoin deliver deep nourishment. The cotton pads feature embedded cotton seed particles for gentle exfoliation. Each tub contains 70 pads and comes with a tweezer.
My take: Exfoliating two to three times weekly is key to eliminating dead skin cells for a more vibrant and healthy glow. After just a few applications, mixsoon’s Bean Toner Pad revitalized my dull and dry complexion to a smooth and radiant finish!
The soft, natural cotton material glided effortlessly on my skin, while the cotton seed particles provided a light exfoliating effect. I enjoy incorporating this product into my skincare routine to achieve that coveted dewy look.
Each toner pad has a perforated center, allowing you to split it into two. For those looking to maximize value, you can easily tear the pads in half, getting up to 140 uses from a single tub! I found using half a pad was more than enough to cover my face, as it is generously soaked in essence. Just be cautious when traveling, as the abundant essence might leak from the tub.
Final Verdict
Of the three Korean toner pads I tried, the Egg Cica Ampoule Pad from too cool for school emerged as my favorite, consistently giving my skin a healthy glow post-application! This pad is also the softest and most saturated with essence among the trio.
Both ROVECTIN’s Pore Care No-Sebum Pad and mixsoon’s Bean Toner Pad function excellently as weekly refreshers, gently exfoliating and managing excess oil. I appreciated the fragrance-free formulas that provided extra care for my combination and acne-prone skin.
