Winter can be tough on our skin, as drastic weather changes and the transition from cold outdoor air to heated indoor environments can disrupt moisture levels, leading to dryness and irritation. A great solution for addressing the harsh effects of winter on skin is to integrate face masks into our seasonal skincare routine. From sheet masks to pad masks, these products not only deliver deep hydration but also create a protective moisture barrier that defends skin against dry air.
The frigid winter air has left my skin feeling parched and irritated, increasing its susceptibility to breakouts. To prepare for the snowy months ahead, I opted to try TROIAREUKE’s Seoul Toning Serum Mask, Benton’s Guava 70 Skin Toner Face Mask Pad, and Mary&May’s Premium Idebenone Blackberry Complex Essence Mask to safeguard my skin against the elements and fend off winter dryness.
Over a three-week period, I alternated the use of these three mask products to determine if this trio would help my skin retain hydration and develop resilience against harsh weather.

What is it?
The TROIAREUKE Seoul Toning Serum Mask features plant-based Melazero to enhance dull and fatigued skin tones. Infused with peptides and lettuce extract, this mask targets premature aging, reduces fine lines, and helps alleviate sagging skin. With niacinamide for brightening and glycerin for hydration, this toning serum mask calms irritation and redness, promoting smooth, soft skin. Clinical testing ensures it is friendly for sensitive skin. Each container comes with 100 mask pads, and tweezers are included.
How to use: Apply the toning serum mask to your face and leave it on for a maximum of 20 minutes. After removal, gently pat the remaining essence into your skin.
My Take
Cold weather had led to breakouts on my skin, but after using this serum mask pad on the inflamed areas for three consecutive days, I noticed a considerable reduction in redness and a significant boost in overall skin health. After a warm shower, applying three of the pads to my face provided an immediate cooling effect that felt refreshing. Once the pads were removed, my skin felt softer, more hydrated, and nourished. The pads are generously saturated with essence, delivering ample nourishment without any sticky residue afterward.

What is it?
Benton’s Guava 70 Skin Toner Face Mask Pad is a soothing toner pad developed in collaboration with Korean influencer Bbomni. Each mask pad is enriched with antioxidant-rich Jeju guava leaf extract, alongside other calming plant extracts like mugwort and houttuynia cordata. Key ingredients such as panthenol and azulene work to strengthen the skin barrier while providing soothing and hydrating benefits. Each container includes 70 mask pads, and tweezers are also included.
How to use: Apply after cleansing your skin. Place the mask pads on the areas of your face that require intensive soothing, and leave them on for 5-10 minutes before removal.
My Take
Dealing with some dry patches, I found that these mask pads effectively restored moisture to the affected areas. On one occasion, I applied foundation after using the mask pads and was pleased to see that my makeup adhered beautifully without any flaky skin disrupting the look.
The essence in the toner mask pads is slightly sticky, so it takes a bit of time for it to absorb fully into my skin. By the end of the three-week trial with the Guava 70 Skin Toner Face Mask Pad, the redness around my nose was greatly reduced, and I experienced fewer instances of inflammation and acne flare-ups. The gentle essence of the pads did not irritate my sensitive skin during the entire trial. I appreciate that the pads are thin, allowing me to easily tear them and use them under my eyes for a quick moisture boost.

What is it?
If you prefer sheet masks over pad masks, Mary&May’s peel-off sheet mask is an excellent choice! Infused with blackberry complex for nourishment, hyaluronic acid for hydration, and idebenone to fend off free radicals, this premium sheet mask enhances softness and health of the skin. Each mask is crafted with bamboo charcoal powder, designed to absorb more essence for optimal delivery of active ingredients. Niacinamide brightens skin while centella asiatica calms irritation, and ceramide supports smooth skin. Tweezers are included.
How to use: Apply the mask sheet on your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Remove the mask and gently pat the remaining essence into your face to aid absorption.
My Take
This mask not only efficiently hydrated my skin but also left it feeling incredibly soft and nourished. I appreciate the sturdy texture of the sheet mask, which allows for a comfortable fit without excessive stretching. The elegant black design adds a sophisticated touch to the overall experience. After removing the mask, my face felt firmer and appeared brighter and more even-toned.
I love the convenience of the pull-out packaging, making it easy to reach for a sheet mask whenever needed, while also reducing waste compared to individually packaged options. The mask has a subtle fragrance that enhances the relaxing experience.

The Verdict
As temperatures drop, utilizing facial masks offers a swift and effective method for winter-proofing and treating dry skin. Consistent use of sheet masks and mask pads throughout winter can significantly replenish moisture levels and strengthen the skin barrier to better defend against external stressors, particularly the harsh cold air.
Among the three products tested, I found the most improvement in my skin’s health and texture after using Mary&May’s Premium Idebenone Blackberry Complex Essence Mask. It created a hydrating protective layer that kept my skin plump and resilient. Meanwhile, Benton’s Guava 70 Skin Toner Face Mask Pad effectively helped reduce irritation and redness caused by the cold.
Each of these products is packaged in a compact tub with space for tweezers on the lid, making it both hygienic and convenient to grab each mask.
