In the previous year, the latte and strawberry makeup trends gained significant traction. The trend for natural makeup looks continues to thrive, with a resurgence of the Japanese Igari makeup style into the spotlight. Following the viral Igari look shared by Korean influencer ANSOMI (@a.ssom on Instagram) across platforms like TikTok and Pinterest, users quickly began to showcase their own interpretations on social media.
Named after Japanese makeup artist Igari Shinobu, Igari makeup, also known as “futsukayoi” or hangover makeup, takes inspiration from the rosy complexion that can result from drinking alcohol. This style is particularly flattering for those with a low visual weight face and features flushed pink cheeks beneath the eyes, paired with minimal base and eye makeup.
I opted to recreate the Igari makeup look using heimish’s Moringa Ceramide BB Cream, CLIO’s Pro Eye Palette, The Saem’s Jelly Blusher, and romand’s Glasting Melting Balm. Keep scrolling to see how these K-Beauty products worked together to create a youthful, flushed appearance!
The Japanese beauty trend for fresh and natural makeup remains vigorous. Back in 2019, the popular “mochi skin” trend emphasized soft, bouncy skin. Similarly, the Igari makeup look emphasizes a natural aesthetic, showcasing a minimalist base and eye makeup that highlights the cheeks’ rosy appearance.

Light and Sheer Coverage
For a lightweight yet hydrating base, I chose heimish’s Moringa Ceramide BB Cream in the shade #27 Light Tan. This BB cream, which also offers skincare benefits, is formulated with niacinamide, ceramide NP, and adenosine to brighten, hydrate, and firm the skin. Packaged in a sleek pump bottle, it allows for easy dispensing, and a small amount is sufficient for full-face coverage!
I absolutely loved this BB cream for its flawless finish that isn’t cakey, leaving my skin feeling hydrated. Additionally, I appreciate heimish’s inclusive shade range, as I often find it challenging to locate Korean brands that cater to darker skin tones.
Soft and Neutral Eyes
To achieve the muted eye look characteristic of Igari makeup, opt for either a soft pink or a subtle brown eyeshadow with a hint of shimmer. I selected CLIO’s Pro Eye Palette in #11 Walking On The Cozy Alley, which offers ten shades of nude brown in matte and glitter finishes, ideal for creating a discreet, everyday look. Although it includes a dual-ended brush, I prefer using my fingers for blending the shadows for a softer finish.
I used the shade Peaceful Weekend (a milky brown) for a balanced base and added Softness (a pinkish beige) to the inner corners of my eyes for contrast. To add a touch of sparkle, I finished the look with glitter shadow applied to the center of my lids.

Rosy Flushed Cheeks
In the Igari makeup style, forget about bronzer and contour; it’s all about the blush! The Saem’s Jelly Blusher (#PK02 Scarlet Pink), with its highly pigmented and long-wearing formula, blends beautifully into the skin, imparting a watercolor-like vibrancy to the cheeks.
As someone with brown skin and warm undertones, I find that reddish-pink shades create the best natural flush. I applied the blush just below my eyes and on the apples of my cheeks with a fluffy brush, then blended it across the bridge of my nose to enhance the youthful effect. The Jelly Blusher’s easy-to-build and blend formula made application effortless.
Glossy Lip
Finish the look with a lip gloss or tinted balm that complements your natural lip color. I used romand’s Glasting Melting Balm in shade #04 Hippie Berry, which moisturizes while providing a vivid pop of color. Formulated with plant-based ingredients like rosehip, argan, and evening primrose oils, it forms a moisture-retaining barrier to keep lips hydrated.
I was initially cautious about using a cool-toned shade, concerned it might make my skin look washed out. I usually prefer rosy, coral, and muted red shades, but surprisingly, the Glasting Melting Balm transformed my pigmented lips beautifully. It not only delivered a glossy finish but also has a delightful berry scent that sealed the deal!

Final Verdict
Of the four K-Beauty products I used for the Igari makeup look, my favorite was romand’s Glasting Melting Balm. It excelled in every aspect, from its elegant packaging to its rich color payoff and nourishing qualities!
The second spot goes to The Saem’s Jelly Blusher, which I found lightweight and comfortable on my skin. I generally prefer powder blush due to my oily skin by midday, as powder helps to absorb excess sebum. Thankfully, the Jelly Blusher provides a nice balance between matte and dewy, preventing me from looking overly shiny!
I also want to highlight CLIO’s Pro Eye Palette for its great and durable performance. The soft, creamy formula applied smoothly without any fallout!
As for heimish’s Moringa Ceramide BB Cream, it did an excellent job of evening out my skin tone and keeping my skin hydrated throughout the day. However, it only offers light to medium coverage, so if you struggle with blemishes or acne spots like I do, you might need an additional concealer for extra coverage.
