A Calming Skincare Regimen Featuring Centella Asiatica – THE Sugarblossomdiary

As summer heats up, the combination of intense heat and humidity can trigger flare-ups on my eczema-sensitive skin. Fortunately, I’m finding relief with four centella asiatica products that have truly transformed my skincare routine!

Benefits of Centella Asiatica for Skin Care

Centella asiatica, often referred to as cica, gotu kola, tiger grass, and Indian pennywort, has a rich history in traditional medicine. Today, it remains a key ingredient in many Korean skincare products. Here are some of its primary benefits:

  1. Soothing and calming: Cica boasts outstanding anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe skin irritation and reduce redness associated with conditions like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis.
  2. Healing and repairing: With its antioxidant-rich profile, cica aids in skin healing and repair while guarding against free radical damage, enhancing overall skin resilience.
  3. Anti-aging: Cica encourages collagen production and improves skin elasticity, helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Hydrating: Cica effectively enhances skin hydration by restoring moisture barriers and preventing moisture loss.

The first step in my morning skincare routine involves using a toner pad to gently cleanse my skin, hydrate, and prepare it for improved absorption of subsequent products. I prefer toner pads over facial cleansers in the morning for their convenience and the instant hydration they provide.

The Product: These essence-soaked toner pads refresh and rejuvenate fatigued skin. They combine allantoin, betaine, and ceramide NP to enhance skin resilience. The triple-layered pads, made from Tencel and gauze, effectively deliver active ingredients deep into the skin.

My POV: The toner pad feels refreshingly cool across my skin. One pad is sufficient for my entire face. I use it to sweep away overnight sebum and impurities. For added hydration and comfort, I let the pad rest on my irritated skin for a few moments. Post-application, my skin feels cleansed, smooth, and hydrated, with a lovely subtle glow.

Following that, I apply a lightweight, fast-absorbing ampoule for a hydrating boost.

The Product: This calming ampoule from SKIN 1004 combines tea tree water and centella asiatica extract to rapidly soothe irritated skin and reduce acne breakouts. Formulated with Anti-Sebum P(HD), it helps regulate excess oil production and minimize pore size while leaving the skin smooth and supple without any sticky finish.

My POV: Initially, I was doubtful about how effective this ampoule would be due to its watery texture. However, I was pleasantly surprised; after using it consistently for two weeks, I noticed a significant reduction in redness and fewer irritations and flare-ups. It’s become a summer essential!

For moisturizer, I selected a lightweight gel cream that delivers lasting hydration without excess shine.

The Product: This cica-rich calming cream from Cos De BAHA alleviates irritated skin while minimizing the appearance of blemishes. Infused with madecassoside to enhance collagen production and hydration, its soothing formula effectively retains moisture.

My POV: The gel formula feels incredibly calming and absorbs instantly, leaving my skin feeling relaxed and hydrated without any greasy residue. I enjoy the long-lasting matte finish it provides, along with good oil control. After two weeks, my skin appears smoother, more radiant, and less susceptible to redness.

Finally, I finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen featuring high SPF to shield my skin from harmful UV rays before heading out. I prefer sunscreen in stick form for its convenience and hygiene when reapplying throughout the day.

The Product: This hybrid sun stick provides SPF 50+ PA++++ protection using both physical and chemical filters. Enriched with triple hyaluronic acid and cica extract, it keeps the skin soothed and hydrated. The stick application glides on smoothly, leaving a matte finish without a white cast.

My POV: The sun stick glides effortlessly on my skin, making it feel soft and moisturized. I tend to apply two to three layers for enhanced protection, and it never feels heavy or sticky. The semi-matte finish holds up well under makeup. My only minor critique is that it can make my T-zone appear slightly shiny by day’s end, but a quick blot fixes that!

Conclusion

After two weeks of using these cica-infused K-Beauty products, I’ve observed a marked decrease in irritation and eczema flare-ups.

mixsoon’s Centella Toner Pad and SKIN 1004’s Madagascar Centella Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule feel refreshing and together deliver a lightweight burst of hydration that keeps my skin calm, cool, and glowing all summer long.

I’ve noticed improvements in my skin’s texture and tone thanks to Cos De BAHA’s CG Centella Gel Cream Jumbo. Its light consistency and matte finish make it a definite must-have for the summer!

While mixsoon’s Cica-Hyal Sun Stick may leave my T-zone slightly shiny, I appreciate its high SPF and moisturizing properties. The stick format encourages me to reapply more frequently than liquid sunscreens! I might not recommend this for those with oily skin, but it’s worth trying if you have combination or dry skin.
